Today Pechersk is an administrative and business center of Kiev, it is there the Mariinsky Palace (residence of the President), Cabinets of Ministers, National Bank of Ukraine and Ukrainian Parliament (Verchovna Rada) are situated. The name of the district originates from the Pechersky Monastery (Lavra) located there.
